About PrimeBiometry
PrimeBiometry is an independent research platform for evaluating biometric authentication and identity verification software. We exist because the vendor landscape is opaque: pricing is hidden behind sales calls, compliance claims are unverified, and most comparison sites are thinly veiled affiliate directories with no original analysis.
We built this for IT directors, security officers, and compliance teams that need honest, structured analysis before committing to a six-figure identity stack.

Why We Built This
Identity verification procurement is broken. Vendors gate pricing behind demos. Review sites aggregate star ratings without ever auditing compliance documents. Analyst reports cost $4,000 and go stale in six months.
PrimeBiometry started as a personal research project. The origin was evaluating KYC and identity verification APIs for mobile app integration – and realizing that getting accurate comparison data meant either sitting through a dozen sales calls or piecing together scattered, often outdated information from review sites and vendor marketing pages.
We now track 68 vendors across eight categories: KYC Compliance, Identity Verification, Biometric Authentication, AML, Fraud Prevention, Liveness Detection, KYB, and Document Verification. Every assessment is written against a documented methodology and updated when vendors change pricing or compliance coverage.
Our Research Process
We score each vendor against five weighted criteria derived from what regulated buyers actually check at procurement. No editorial shortcuts, no paid influence on scores.
- + We read vendor documentation and API references, not marketing pages
- + Compliance is verified against public certificates and DPA templates, not self-attestation
- + Every assessment includes "Avoid If" with honest limitations, not just feature lists
- + Assessments are dated; pricing is reviewed quarterly, compliance certificates semi-annually
Who Uses PrimeBiometry
Research built for B2B buyers in regulated industries with real procurement stakes.
IT Directors and CISOs
Evaluating identity infrastructure: MFA, SSO, biometric authentication, PAM. We map vendor compliance posture to your regulatory environment so you can shortlist without three sales calls.
Compliance and Legal Teams
Selecting KYC and AML vendors under GDPR, CCPA, MiCA, or sector rules (banking, healthcare, crypto). We audit each vendor's compliance coverage and surface gaps before you sign a DPA.
Fintech and Crypto Product Teams
Building onboarding flows that need KYC at scale without breaking conversion. We compare verification speed, rejection rates, and per-check pricing across 30+ KYC providers.
Security Engineers
Integrating biometric or identity APIs into existing stacks. We rate API quality, SDK availability (iOS, Android, Web), webhook reliability, and sandbox access before you write a line of code.
Who's Behind This
James Whitfield
Mobile App Developer
PrimeBiometry is an independent research project, not a corporate analyst report. I'm a mobile app developer who got pulled into the KYC/identity verification space while evaluating vendors for integration work – and quickly realized that comparing providers meant either sitting through a dozen sales calls or piecing together scattered, often outdated information from review sites and vendor marketing pages.
So I built the comparison I wished existed: based on public documentation, API references, pricing pages, and aggregated reviews from G2 and Gartner – not sales decks.
I'm not a certified compliance officer, and this isn't legal or regulatory advice. What I bring is a developer's perspective: I read the actual API docs and SDK references, not just the feature lists, and I care about integration realities – SDK quality, webhook reliability, sandbox access – that procurement-focused reviews often skip.
Every assessment follows a documented methodology and gets updated when vendors change pricing or features. Found an error or something out of date? Email me at support@primebiometry.com .
Editorial Independence
PrimeBiometry is currently self-funded – no vendor has paid for placement, affiliate fees, or sponsored content. Every assessment reflects independent research.
In the future, the site may earn revenue through affiliate links and featured vendor placements. If that happens, it will be disclosed on every page where it applies, and it will not affect editorial scores or assessment content. All vendors are evaluated against the same five criteria documented in our evaluation methodology . Scores cannot be purchased or negotiated.
